Mr Lee does a great job building suspense and developing character relationships.
The bantering dialogue lends itself to deeper undertones while creating an effective sense of tension with Lacour's potential love interest.
Although there are a great deal of unanswered wonderings, I am confident my curiosity will be satisfactorily satiated in the upcoming volumes. This is an effective tool as it leaves this writer wanting more.
The fact that this is an African American protagonist using modern science to solve some pretty lofty issues adds to this piece's appeal as I am only familiar with one other African American scientist, Max Axiom, who is highlighted as a role model in this genre. I can't wait to see how Lacour uses science to connect the mysteries of the past and the future with the questions of today.

I'll start this off by saying that I'm more of a spandex and tights comic book reader (Batman, Avengers, etc.), but a friend of mine told me to check this out. He said it had some of the same vibes as some of the more sci-fi spandex stuff
The story is pretty cool. We follow a MIT scientist as he does research into a mystery that we're not totally aware of yet but seems to be connected to his grandfather. While this initial issue is a bit strong on the exposition in some places, it does set everything up for what is to come next. The last page definitely leaves me wondering where we're going (and reminds me of some older sci-fi movies), and I'm looking forward to seeing what happens.

I'm holding my breath waiting for the next edition! LaCour is a hero in the making. He's caught between his past and the future, unwilling to be boxed into his life - wanting to propel forward and make his own destiny. There are so many layers of meaning to be explored in this first edition. Who EXACTLY is LaCour? Why is he haunted by his past? Or is he? Why is his lab in turmoil? What dangers are faced by his discoveries? And....what's going on with his lab assistant???? In addition to the plot itself, the artwork is fresh, crisp --- a veritable masterpiece of illustration. My last question - what's the release date on the next volume?
