Holds up well. A great comic from 1988.

I have these comics, from 1988. I liked them enough to collect the series, from a comic book store in San Antonio.
First off, this comic is based on Dungeons & Dragons. If you're not familiar with the game, or with role-playing games in general, then this comic might have limited appeal. This graphic novel collects the first 8 issues. The first issue is a somewhat awkward character introduction. But it soon has its groove, and the adventures proceed from there. The main characters are:
Timoth Eyesbright - Centaur male fighter
Onyx the Invincible - Dwarf male fighter/thief
Priam Agrivar - Human male paladin
Vajra Valmeyjar - Human female fighter
Conner - Human male rogue
Cybriana - Elf female mage
In the first four issues, they fight the fiend Imgig Zu, who needs Cybriana in order to fashion a gem of power. I didn't care for that particular arc, but the action and dialog were good. Excellent art.
In issues 5-8, There was once a jester who once told a joke so funny that it knocked the audience dead. His remains have been disturbed, and his ghost hires the adventurers to find out who. In return, he'll tell them where he hid a scroll of his best jokes. I liked this story more, due to the unusual characters that were introduced, including a clan of jesters.
It all holds up well. Recommended for those that like Fantasy.

OLD SCHOOL FUN!

The art is sometimes really pretty, in a late-80's sort of way, and the writing/details really bring me back to the days spent in our garage, a 2-liter of soda in one hand and a sparkly d20 in the other.
Feel free to look for a bargain on this one, but if you were a fan of D&D or of this book, don't hesitate to pick it up for a few laughs and chuckles.
Sidenote: for something a little LESS old school, look into the Knights of the Dinner Table books. Those are great fun, as well!
