About the Author
I was born in Naples, Italy, on the 17th of January 1951 and I grew up in a very middle class family. My life was quite regular with joys and upsets like everybody else, but my feelings, in truth, were not in it. What I wanted to do with my life was not clear, but I knew that a house, a family, a good job, and a steady course were simply not for me. Then, one day, while I was trying to follow a lecture at the University of Naples without understanding a word of what the lecturer was saying, suddenly I realized that what I really wanted to do was get out of stuffy classrooms to explore the world. I wanted to travel to faraway exotic places in search of adventure. Accordingly I left Naples and a long journey began. To support myself I worked, when I needed to make some money, doing whatever job was available wherever I was. I was a waiter in a fancy hotel. I was an offset printer operator in a plastic containers factory. I was an apprentice cook in a famous Swiss restaurant, a language teacher in Japan, and more. I was married; divorced, and had several meaningful relationships that eventually lost their meaning. At present I reside in a small village in South India, and aside from writing, what I do mostly nowadays is my best to keep out of troubles.

The further adventures of an old friend

Liked this one even more than Forest Full of Monkeys, Albero's first account of some of his globetrotting experiences. Here I see his writing becoming more polished while retaining the storytelling quality that imbues his anecdotes with his personal sense of wonder. I knew him well in the 1970s and 80s, when many of the Monkey adventures were taking place. He frequently visited in California and always had tales to tell. He is one of those several friends I've had over the years who has remained true to his original character throughout his later life. He never did grow up and toe the line, a precious attribute in my esteem. His stories contrast well against the background of the grown-up line toe-ers who so vastly outnumber him.
