Wicked Neato!
By Paul William Nelson
This is the first review I've ever written for any Amazon thing ever. There is a very deliberate reason for this review. I have thoroughly enjoyed the reading of this book. I have to admit that I am just a little bit nerdy and I highly enjoy sci-fi things. This book satisfied my qualifications for a good sci-fi story. The universe in which this story takes place is highly thought out. I take solace in the fact that it is a place where many other stories can take place. It takes our ordinary lives and connects us to this other secret way that the world works. I also appreciate the realisticness of the people representing different religious beliefs. The author did a wonderful job being respectful and demonstrating that just because someone believes differently doesn't mean that they are dumb, they're just different. It's a nice step in the right direction towards bridging the gap between people groups. I apologize for my grammar, poor spelling and general writing style of this review. Don't worry, I won't be writing a book anytime soon. Anywho, this book is great! Bring on book two!

Action-packed and Futuresque
By Stephanie Williams
I was intrigued by the setting and the characters of this novel. Although I found the story somewhat hard to follow, visually, I found that on a subconscious level, the Word of God was really ingrained in my heart. If I had to change some aspects of the book, I would say to add more emotional depth to the characters, as well as more vivid descriptions so that I could get a stronger feel for the setting. It is important to unpack and expand on some of the prose, which would provide much smoother transitions and a more attention-grabbing read. Conversely, I enjoyed the high level of action and the development of the characters, watching them evolve over time. I would have preferred if the story didn't switch from chapter to chapter so frequently, or if there weren't so many characters- instead, I would have liked to see more depth to a lesser amount of characters, but perhaps that is just a personal preference of mine. Nonetheless, perhaps that is the 'futuristic' vibe that Hannah intended to immerse the reader in. I liked how otherworldly and action-packed the story was. There was always something going on and it definitely is appealing in that regard. Not a typical book I would read, due to the 'sci-fi' vibe that it emits, but nonetheless, I am grateful for the opportunity to expand my horizons and broaden my perspective. It was definitely very believable, well-written, and spiritually nourishing. Even to a non-Christian, I feel that it offers a solid testimony of God's power and impact on the world around us. I think I may need to read it a second time just so I am able to capture every aspect of the book, as it is not what I am accustomed to reading as far as the genre is concerned, and because there is so much that I feel I have missed. I am a very fast reader, so it would benefit me to ensure that I have captured and retained its every facet, given that it is quite complex.

Alternate dimensions, religion, and philosophy--an unconventional sci-fi adventure
By KarToon12
I was introduced to the author's work through her amazing Shatterealm webcomic (and there's a link to it at the end of this book). However, as much as you should read the comic, you don't have to in order to understand what's going on here.

The story introduces us to four main protaganists; all of whom have green blood, green eyes, and a sort of sixth sense. All of them have lost their memories, and all of them have been scattered across various dimensions. But fate (or perhaps divine intervention?) brings the (revealed to be) siblings together, and soon enough, they embark on a quest to discover just what they are, and where they came from.

The other huge concept in this is that there's a near infinate amount of alternate dimensions and realities, which the characters travel between via the technology they have called "D-guns", which (similar to the guns from the video game Portal) shoot out doorways to the various dimensions programed into it. More often than not in sci-fi, dimension hopping is made out to be a big deal, where scientists have to create some giant, Stargate-esque portal (and there's only one of it), or some equipment malfunctions, or some cosmic phenomena happens to transport the characters. So to see technology that can create portals anywhere, and make dimension traveling as easy as crossing the street was a pretty refreshing change of pace.

The characters are all incredibly fleshed out, and each have their own strengths and weaknesses, as well as personal problems, while still retaining likablity. And the various dimensions are all well described, even if some only feature for a minute or two. And the various concepts and themes of religion feature heavily throughout, and whether you're a religious person or not, the characters various viewpoints on God and Creation really makes you think about who and what we are in relation to the whole of the universe.

My one and only nitpick/critique is that it was a tiny bit tricky to understand what was going on towards the beginning. The chapters jump back and forth from each of the four characters until they all meet each other, which wouldn't be so bad, except for the fact that since they all live in different dimensions, it took me a bit to realize I wasn't on the same planet/world/dimension anymore. We're dropped into the action immediately, and it takes having to read and listen to the characters' actions and dialogue to figure out the backstory of the Inter-D organization and how it works. At times, I felt like I was reading the last part in a series, as if there were books before this that introduced the characters in more detail, and I hadn't read them. But after a while, I caught on. Still, it might've been just a tiny bit easier to have some sort of introduction at the start. But maybe that's just me.

Part sci-fi, part fantasy, part religious, and part philosophical, I definately reccomend this. It really makes you think about life and existance itself, wrapped up in an action/adventure, with an Indiana Jones-inspired final act. I can't wait for the next book!
