About the Author
Anne Lafferty was born in rural Wisconsin, and in some ways never left. She has been employed as a teacher and a musician, has worked in the field of nursing, and is currently a freelance writer and author in Scottsdale, AZ That being said, some of her most intense living was spent off the grid, no utilities, survivalist. Lafferty raised her children in the hills and woods and fields with the smell of wood smoke, the rules of strength and endurance that only the land can teach. They remember.

Hawkin's Creek by Anne Lafferty

Just finished reading this beautiful real life story, and wanted to share it with you. Hawkin's Creek was, for me, one of those books that swept me away, and I was actually sad when came, in too short a time, the last page. Anne Lafferty, the author of this story has a unique way of telling her tale, drawing you in until you are there with her and her son. I encourage you to get the book, you won't be sorry. Just make sure that when you do begin reading it, that you pick a comfortable chair and read when you are with few to no distractions. It's such a pleasure to read. Enjoy!

Hawkins Creek Came Alive for Me.

Anne has a way of writing that helps paint a clear picture of her stories. They are funny, sad, interesting and she opens up her life for all of us to enjoy and you learn a lot about her and yourself! The book compliments well many of the adventures that were covered in her first book, Core Hollow. And it gave me an appreciation of strength the human spirit has in the face of struggles and joy of the victories. A wonderful read.

Enjoyed it, interesting and easy read

I grew up in the area Anne writes of, and worked with her at the nursing home. She also cleaned my house until she fell in love, got married, and moved away. I never knew she had endured so much. I laughed at her stories of the nursing home, where bowels move freely and in the most inconvenient places.
