Another GREAT read from Mary Frame!

I had the great privilege of beta reading this for Mary and I fell in love with Dean the moment Freya, um, ran into him :-) Freya was hysterical in Imperfect Chemistry and she does not disappoint for her story. She is funny and honest and truly a character you want to root for. Dean is one of those book boyfriends you fervently wish was real because he's that perfect mix of good guy (really good guy) who's a little dangerous.

Lucy is back as well and I love her now as much as I did with Imperfect Chemistry - whenever Lucy and Freya are together shenanigans abound! These two have such a sweet friendship and I love the scenes where they are together.

I really enjoyed the twist at the end - I did not see it coming (and I know that's been said TONS about other books, but I really didn't see it coming!).

This is a book where you can trust the author because you know she's going to tell you a great story with interesting, fun characters and you know you're going to enjoy every word.

And I did :) Highly recommend!!

Imperfect is really perfect

This was the funniest, sweetest, most intriguing who done it I've read in a very long time. The characters aren't just likeable, they are loveable. The plot was totally engaging from page one. The writing was funny laugh out loud hilarious. The story clipped along and kept you hooked with the mystery and the romance. Honestly you can't go wrong with this one.

The banter between Freya and Dean was wonderful! They have great chemistry and are perfect for each other. It's funny how they meet and gradually get to know each other as they work on solving a case together. There was a few twists in the book but it all makes the ending that much sweeter. I hope to see more books from the Imperfect series. Love the cover!

About the Author
CHRIS MEIKEL is a Christian broadcaster living in St. Joseph, Missouri. After graduating from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas, he earned his Master's Degree in Communications from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Chris then began a broadcast career that included stops in Leavenworth, Kansas, Kansas City, and now St. Joseph. Early in his career, he served as an air personality and play-by-play announcer on radio stations in northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas. Eventually he advanced to positions as Program Director, and he is now the General Manager of KSJI and KGNM in St. Joseph, Missouri. His love for running began in high school in Kansas City, Kansas during the 1970's when he competed in both cross country and track. Now, more than forty years and many miles later, he still enjoys training and competing in races, from five kilometer events to marathons. Every weekday, Chris continues to enjoy sharing God's word, contemporary Christian music, and his life adventures with his audience on his morning radio show. He and his three children live life more abundantly at their home in St. Joseph, Missouri.

A powerful book from one of the first advocates of the Law of Attraction

Originally published in 1908 and rejuvenated 100 years later, "Thought Vibration" is a relatively short book at less than 100 pages; however it is certainly is a concise and informative book that is well worth the read.

Many of the current "new thought" ideals and the concepts/laws behind the "power of attraction" were shared by William Walker Atkinson and they are just as powerful now as they likely were back in the days in which they were written. The author shares concepts like: fears are realized because in essence they are expectations and we draw to us what we expect; the key to attainment is desire, confidence, and will, followed by action; that we are all unique individuals and, as such, must follow our own path and not give our power to others; and finally, and perhaps most importantly, thoughts are a real force and the key to the law of attraction.

I really enjoyed reading this book and I learned and reinforced many ideas that I believe to be universal truths. Those who are interested in the power of thought or in the law of attraction would likely find this book useful and would benefit from having act copy of it in their library.

Deviously wonderful.

Sounds pretty simple because who would want to mess with the PBI? And why would anyone want to mess with Devon, since he is one nasty Vampire trying to come over to the "good" side. And therein lies the problem. If you remember where book 3 left off, then be prepared for heart wrenching pain-both physical and emotional. There are tender moment between Sarah's sister and Fang, the were-bear, but hearts be cruel.

Remember when I said someone is after the PBI? Prepare for a storm of ups and downs! NO SPOILERS HERE.

Ms.,Brumfield has again written a darn good book and you MUST read it!

Devon has finally talked Sarah into a first date and he is determined to get her to see him as boyfriend/mate material. However, Devon's past comes back to bite him in the butt and the chances of that happening are looking worse and worse. The Amazons have kidnapped the pair of would be lovers and they have a devious plan hatched by a goddess to implement. Fang and Frankie are still struggling to figure out their relationship and it is going to take the Horsemen of the Apocalypse to help save the day. There are a lot of secrets reveled in this book , twist and turns that I did not see coming and a plot that is enacted helping set off Ms. Brumfield's connecting series. With each installment of this series, we the reader are drawn deeper into the world of Ms. Brumfield's imagination feeding our addiction to find out what happens next. This is a well thought out storyline that keeps the you engaged and on the edge of your seat. The characters are well developed and you just can't help liking them and wanting to see them get a HEA.

Excellent series - I'm hooked! :)

I received a free Audible copy of PBI Case Files Bundle 1 from the author in exchange for my honest review.

While I didn't get into the series right off the bat, it did quickly draw me in and once I was hooked, I was hooked. It's a series with danger and mystery that doesn't end up being dark. There are love, friendship, and entertaining moments to lighten it to a point that you shouldn't think it's very dark at all. The series includes a plethora of paranormal beings including, but not limited to, vampires, shifters (bear specifically), Amazons, demi-gods, gods/goddesses, and telepaths. The variety adds a lot of life to the story with the characters largely not being of the same species/race as one another. The main characters are Sarah (human) and her sister, Frankie (human) as well as Fang/Luke (bear shifter) and Devon (vampire). Sarah and Frankie find themselves thrust into a world beyond their imaginings (either that or death). Thus, they both join the PBI (as humans). As the series progresses, circumstances dictate actions that result in Sarah and Frankie no longer being your average humans (and neither of them is very happy about it!). The interplay between these four main characters and the others (such as Karma and Jasmine) that make regular appearances is never boring. As I said before, the books are not dark so, while there hasn't been a HEA ending yet, it is coming. We just need to have a little faith in the characters and their ability to move past adversity. Each of the books ends in a cliffhanger (which isn't a big deal for books 1-3, but stinks when you reach the end of book 4, obviously). I would recommend this to any PNR lovers who like a clean romance (sex and language, so far) romance that is an adventure and a lot of fun to listen to (or read). Needless to say, I am most definitely interested in listening to Bundle 2!

The not so complete guide

Knitting for Intermediate Knitters bills itself as a "complete guide," but this is a bit of an overstatement. It's more like an expanded glossary. It has a few step-by-step instructions and some nice patterns, but mostly it provides definitions and hints for using various knitting tools and techniques.

The conversational tone of the book is inviting and makes it a quick and easy read. A beginning knitter can certainly learn a few things from reading it. When it comes to actual instruction, however, there really isn't much of it. The book relies primarily on references to other sources, such as YouTube videos, for anything more advanced.

The pictures are beautiful, but the book lacks the detailed shots and techniques found in books like Vogue Knitting or The Knitting Answer Book.

This is a decent reference, but definitely not an "ultimate guide." It is probably best for someone who has been away from knitting for a while and just wants a refresher.

Interesting, made me reach for the knitting needles. It's a friendly book and gave me a few new ideas. Liked all the links available. However, the charts are not clear when enlarged.

Lots of potential

I was excited to read this book via kindle unlimited. Unfortunately, the formatting of the book leaves something to be desired. It comes across as a beginners attempts at a book, which is too bad, because you can tell that the author put her heart into it. I just wish some one had helped her with
the editing.
That said, there are some genuinely good patterns available. The beginning talks about standard symbols for various types of yarn. Yet, not a single pattern in the book uses the symbols. It's fine if you have the yarn listed waiting in your stash, but leads to trouble if you need to substitute another yarn.
At another section in the book, a useful appearing table cuts off information at both ends, making it impossible to use as intended.

Wonderful Story

Jennie Lucas has to be one of the best new harlequin authors out there. The way her writing and storylines go reminds me of early Lynne Graham. This book starts off grabbing your attention and holds it all the way through. The hero, Maksim, is typical Presents alpha male/jerk, but Grace is someone that I was rooting for through the whole book. All she is trying to do is help out her family, and try her best to make ends meet with a jerk boss. When these two are brought together you can feel the chemistry, and hope for the best for these two. What I love best about this book is the ending. Jennie Lucas has a way of making you feel happy and satisfied. If you are looking for a sweet story to just curl up with I would definitely recommend The Christmas Love-Child.

A charming Russian alpha, romantic Christmas read

The Christmas Love-Child is the most perfect and romantic love story for the Holidays. Of course, it's brilliantly crafted by author Jennie Lucas and this time her hero is the most sensual, ruthless and handsome Russian alpha with the most incredible name, Prince Maksim Rostov.

Maksim is known for being ruthless and will stop at nothing to seal a deal. What he now wants he can't have because his mistress has gone to his competition, is engaged to the CEO and has guaranteed him the oil deal with her father. However, like all successful businessmen, Maksim knows that Alan Barrington has a secretary who worships him, one that he believes if he can get her to tell him Alan's secrets, then he'll get the deal back.

Grace Cannon is secretly in love with her boss, and he uses her in the most inappropriate way, over works her, uses his charm on her, she's underpaid, plus she lives in the basement of his home and she pays him rent. On top of everything else, she an innocent and is devoted to her family. So much so, she's trying to earn money to save their home back in California.

Its Christmas time and Alan sends Grace on an errand to purchase lingerie for his fiancé, the lovely and beautiful redhead Francesca who is Maksim's past mistress. Maksim stages a meeting and absolutely sweeps her off her feet. However, it's not one sided as Maksim sees not the plain woman before him, he actually sees her inner and physical beauty. He actually likes her, he shares with her things he's never told anyone and I personally thought he just might have fallen in love with her. I know that Grace fell hard for this handsome prince.

Of course, as all powerful and handsome ruthless billionaires, he seduces her and then the worst thing happens, Grace believes he's betrayed her when her boss fires her, leaves her without anything and so on Christmas Eve she returns home heartbroken to her family in California. She's devastated and knows that they will now loose their home. On top of everything she finds out she's expecting Maksim's baby.

Christmas becomes an unhappy time for the couple, he demanding she marry him and return to Russia with him, plus the accusations they both hurl at each other were painful to read. And just when one doesn't think it can become worse, he leaves her at his mansion, ignores her, they speak horribly to each other and just can't seem to get past it all. Where has this man gone, the man she loved, the man she swore they could see into each others souls?

The Christmas Love-Child has it all, emotions, misunderstandings, miscommunication, mistrust and such passion, it consumes them both. What disappeared from their relationship was trust However, so many lessons this couple would learn especially Maksim as he would remember he's always taken care of his own and he'd let Grace down by not being there for her, not protecting her and leaving his bride on her own. And for sweet Grace her journey is a little more painful but in the end so worth it all. Like all Christmas miracles this Prince and Princess come to understand each other and bask in the warmth of their love thanks to the very talented author Jennie Lucas.

Love story between shy secretary and Russian billionaire.

Shy and broke secretary Grace knows that it's a bad idea to be attracted to her boss's enemy. But after meeting Russian billionaire Prince Maksim in person she just can't forget him. He's the first man that makes her feel beautiful instead of plain and boring. But even though she spends one night playing Cinderella with Maksim Grace stays loyal to her boss Alan.

For Prince Maksim it's all about revenge against the man who stole an important merger for him. He plans to use Grace to get the information he needs to take Alan Carrington down. But after meeting Grace he realizes that he found an extraordinary jewel he doesn't want to loose.
Soon they are in a relationship that makes them happy, but Maksim's plans of revenge and his lies at the beginning of their relationship stand in the way of their future and in the end break them up.
When Grace realizes that she is pregnant and Maksim forces her to marry him there seems to be no love left between them. To have a happy end both have to work on trusting each other again.

"The Christmas Love-Child" by Jennie Lucas is one of my favourite Harlequins this year.
Grace is a lovely character and I enjoyed how she got stronger during her time with Maksim. She's hard working and does everything to help her family survive. But even though she needs money desperately she doesn't let herself be bought. Maksim on the other hand is a hard character that at the beginning does everything to make more money because he was dirt poor in his childhood. I like that soon after meeting Grace he decides to not use her and even let's go of his revenge through her. Of course the books ends with a beautiful happy end and I will for sure check out the next book by Jennie Lucas.

About the Author
Peter Robinson spent six years as a speechwriter in the Reagan White House. Among his speeches was the celebrated "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall" speech, which Reagan delivered in Berlin in 1987. Robinson is the host of the PBS television program, Uncommon Knowledge, and the author of two previous books, It's My Party: A Republican's Messy Love Affair with the GOP and Snapshots from Hell: The Making of an MBA. A fellow at the Hoover Institution, he lives in Stanford, California.

Thorough, useful book on creating a water garden at home

I have looked through many books about building a stream, waterfall and pond in my backyard and this book is by far the most helpful. Design wise, there are just so many more photos than most books, which is helpful when coming up with design ideas I like. They also have plant lists for each of the garden examples they show as well, some with up to 25 plants on them. This is definitely not a book for dry rock gardeners, unless you are thinking of the dry streambed type of garden, as it is mostly focused on garden designs incorporating water, both running and still. Overall, I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in putting in a water garden, stream, waterfall or pond in their backyard. The one thing I noticed though was that the text size is very small, almost unusually so for a published book.

We can rationalize some of those losses, but sometimes they are profound. Of course, when someone dies it is hard to be philosophical if you’re the one that’s dead."

I loved this book. The humour is dry and caustic, and the observations about human beings true and insightful. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I thought the ending could have been developed a bit more. But I recommend giving it a read to make your own mind up...

Keeping chicken made easy.

This is a simple guide for beginners on getting started raising chickens. There is a lot more details and hard work to this. Chickens are a life long commitment as chickens can live up to 15 years. One thing I did not agree on- nests are not for sleeping. Nests are for laying eggs. If you encourage chickens to sleep in nests, you will have very messy nests. Chickens sleep on roasts and relive themselves of poop as soon.as they wake in the am. That is where the most of the poop will be. One nest per 4-5 chickens is enough and will not encourage sleeping in nests. Supply plenty of roasts as chickens like to be higher to sleep.

It teaches you a lot about raising chickens and about laws related to them. Personally, I never knew that raising chickens were prohibited in some places. It informs you on how to set up brooders for the chickens, how to properly feed them and all practices that ensure the best results when it comes to backyard chickens

About the Author
Santosh Avvannavar: Santosh started his career as a consultant and Soft Skills Trainer. After his college education from NITK, Surathkal, he worked as a researcher at University of Eindhoven, University of Twente, and Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. He was also the Placement President while working at IISC, Bangalore. He has over twenty-five publications of mostly research documents in national and international journals. He has also authored sixteen conference papers and regularly writes articles for a national and worldwide daily paper. He also works as an advisor for different organizations. He also dabbles in fiction writing and is the author of Adhuri Prem Kahaniya; Dear Wife, Your Husband is not a Superhero, Second Heart and Get a Job WITHOUT an Interview; Be A B.A.; Surrogate Author; Title is Untitled. He likes to devote his personal time in writing for a website, namely the Amrita Foundation for HRD (amritafoundation.wordpress.com). He has conducted seminars and training sessions for more than 40,000 people in India and abroad over the last seven years. Santosh I. Biradar: Santosh is presently pursuing Bachelor's in Social Work from J.G.College of Social Work, Bijapur affiliated to Rani Chennamma University. He is also the founder secretary of Chaitanya Organisation, Bijapur. He is also associated with Deshpande Foundation as a lead ambassador. He won 'Best Reporter' award in Youth for Development Program's and 'Best Education award' from Deshpande Foundation for providing free computer training to the orphan children. He also volunteered various activities such as Google Inktalks, NSS (A special camp for Leprosy people), life skills for orphan children. He participated and evolved many school development programs for drop out children as well.

I am not saying it is bad; it is good

There is no beating around the bush with this book of five short stories. The authors claim that these short stories deal with the misconceptions around HIV. But the fifth short story doesn’t have anything to do with HIV and AIDS, even remotely. I guess, the authors didn’t know where to put this short story and just stuffed it in the end. I am not saying it is bad; it is good, but is definitely misplaced.

The first short story, Shahid – the Martyr, throws light upon the killings that occur around the world thinking that would help ailing people get cured. This particularly deals with virgin sacrifices in the name of black magic to get rid of HIV.

The second short story, Chintu: The Earth is Round, tells you how helpless children, who are infected with HIV, are treated by this society as untouchables and this in turn leads to deprivation of basic necessities.

The third short story, A Game of Life, Lust and Death, is about how a woman uses HIV to take revenge on her enemies. I don’t know how this helps in supporting the infected and affected community.

The fourth short story, Highway Sex: A Journey of Hope, explains how having unprotected sex can lead to HIV infection. Through this story, the authors explain how it is not only the infected person who suffers, but also his/her family.

The fifth short story, Abram and His Prodigal Son, is the misplaced story in this book. Anyway, this story tells you how a person in good influence too can turn bad with just a pinch of evil. It is a modern take on the Parable of Lost Son. So, this story won’t disappoint you either.

This book is a good attempt at bringing awareness in our society, which still behaves primitively when it comes to being around HIV infected people, by trying to burst the myth around it. You read it or gift it to someone. Help in raising awareness about HIV.
