He's a lying sack of s*** this book is pure fiction. He knows nothing about his six children. Most of them know nothing about him. He spoke badly about his ex wives as if it was their fault that things went bad with him. Top Hand at fourteen he probably swept the floors.

Cowboy, Ranching, the American Dream - Plus 30 Years in Mexico; This Memoir Has It All

Paul "Doug" Olson is an American original. His memoir not only reflects a portrait of our beloved (and vanishing) American heartland, but also the rugged individualism we so treasure as a part of our national identity. Very much a self-made man, Paul began working on a ranch as a young teen. I sometimes marveled that he survived the work and weather on the northern plains. From there he went on to accomplish more than most people would in two lifetimes. He rescued, ran, and established businesses (including schools) in both the U.S. and Mexico, and may be the only Dakotan I know who once considered Spanish his preferred language. Paul also learned to fly, and owned his own plane. There is also plenty of self-deprecating humor and introspection in this book. What I got from his story: work hard, be resilient, and trust yourself. A wonderfully inspiring read.
