About the Author
Dick Taylor is a serving British Army officer who has been deployed in many areas of the world. Since being commissioned in 2000, he has specialised in tank gunnery instruction. He has a First Class degree in History, and is currently reading for a Master's degree at Dundee University. He is married with two sons and lives in Blandford Forum, Dorset.

A very detailed specialist book

It would seem that a book, actually two books, on just the uniforms work by soldiers in the British armoured units just wouldn't make sense. But then when you realize that the uniforms along with the badges and insignia basically constitute a biography of the soldier. It tells you how important he is (from his rank), it tells you what unit he is in, it gives you his military history and more.
Further, the uniform itself shows just how much effort armies put into the design of uniforms to be long lasting, tough enough to stand up when rolling around in the dirt, make it harder for the enemy to see you by color or camouflage patterns, and comfortable in varying climates. (For the foot soldier it is always too hot, too cold, too wet, or too dry.)
These two books are a masterpiece of collecting detailed information about the British uniforms, badges, insignia, personal equipment. It is profusely illustrated with illustrations of the individual items as well as photographs from World War 2 showing the dress of soldiers actually in the field.
